Value for money
Have you ever bought a mini skirt only to find if
£5 cheaper in the shop down the road?
Bought the
scooter you’ve always wanted only to discover that you can’t
actually afford to insure it and run it?
Or even
bought a CD player only to find a better one next day?
If so,
you
need to know your rites.
Sorry folks but usually you can't actually change
your mind and get a refund on an item just because you don’t
want it anymore or have found it at a lower price.
So shop
around before you buy.
Make sure
that if you need an item by a certain date you agree this before
you purchase it. Stress that it is crucial you have this product
by this time and
remember to
get it in writing.
Always read
the small print
when signing forms if you are not sure on any point
go and get
advice.
If you’re
buying gifts
remember to
ask the shop
if you have to make
special
arrangements
(in writing) for
refunds or
exchanges
that may be needed.
So remember…
·
The
law doesn’t protect you from your own mistakes
·
A
shopkeeper doesn’t have to sell you anything
·
You
don’t have an automatic right to credit
·
Be
extra careful when buying goods privately (from a newspaper or
something like that) – you don’t have the same protection when
buying from a shop
·
Should around before you buy
·
As a
very last resort go to court
