How to deal with Racism
Racists
believe
certain skin colours or religious beliefs are
better than
others.
Racists
bully others who are
different
to them; they do this by name-calling or violence.
It’s easy to
believe that racism is about
black and
white
– that is just not the case. Many young people are picked on
because they
look
different, speak a different language or have different
religious beliefs.
In 2000/2001
Childline received
525 calls
and letters
from young people about racist bullying.
So remember…
·
Racism is not just about skin colour
·
There
are laws that protect people from racism in Britain.
·
If
you witness someone getting bullying due to racism then, don’t
join in the racism, tell a friend or adult what is happening and
if a friend is being racist, ask them why.
·
