Pre-Owned Games
Is buying a game that someone else has owned
safe? Are you guaranteed the game will be playable?
While you can't expect second
hand goods to be perfect, they should still work and be in
reasonable condition bearing in mind how old they are and how
much you pay. For instance, the game
should work properly
but perhaps the case and label
might not be in A1 condition. Also bear in mind that an older
game might have been played a lot so
might not last so long.
Check
them out properly before you buy.
As a rule, you have exactly the same
rights
as you
would if you were purchasing new items. The law states that
goods must not be damaged unless the person selling the item
points these faults out to you. Pre-owned games must be safe and
be of satisfactory quality – ie they must work! Its worth
checking to see if the game
looks
scratched or damaged
before
buying it. It’s also worth keeping some
proof of
purchase, e.g.
a receipt, and checking what the
shop’s
policy on returning
goods is.
Although
pre-owned games sold from a shop have to be of satisfactory
quality, you do have far fewer
rights when
buying goods from a
private seller, the
only rule being that goods have to be as described.

pre-owned games or any other second hand goods then please

So remember:
· Pre-owned
games should still work – if they don’t you are entitled to your
money back
· Check
the game is not too scratched before you buy
· Ask
the shop what their policy on returning goods is and keep the
receipt
