Welcome...
Young People
have the same consumer rights as adults. This means when we
spend money on anything we have the right not to be ripped off
or affected by scams or dodgy deals.
Have you ever
bought something and not been happy with it? Or worked out it's
fake? Or maybe you’ve bought something and it has broken?
It happens to
everyone at some point but some people aren’t sure if they can
complain or not. Well, now you can check if your consumer rights
will come in handy!
This website
will tell you the way you deserve to be treated by people who
work in shops. It will tell you how to complain and if you
deserve a refund or to have goods exchanged. It will tell you
what to do if you have a problem when shopping, and what the law
says about buying certain things when you are underage.
This site has
been written by young people in partnership with Staffordshire
County Council Trading Standards so you can understand your
rights and issues better.
If
you want to stick up for the consumer rights of young people you
can become a Watchdog. Watchdogs receive alerts and can help out with
projects such as this website, filming videos and
designing a CD-Rom.
